Appeals Policy



1. Purpose

This policy details the appeals process and sets out the procedure that can be used by learners or other relevant parties to challenge a decision made in relation to the outcome of a monitoring process. This includes, but is not limited to:


Reasonable adjustments or special considerations


Assessment results


The outcome of a malpractice or maladministration investigation


2. Scope

This policy applies to all learners, assessors, tutors, and other relevant stakeholders associated with The REH Academy.


3. Grounds for Appeal

An appeal may be lodged if the appellant believes that:


The decision was not made in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures.


There was a procedural irregularity in the assessment, review, or investigation process.


There is evidence of bias or unfair treatment.


New evidence has come to light that could affect the decision.


4. Appeals Process

4.1 Stage 1: Informal Resolution

Before submitting a formal appeal, the appellant is encouraged to seek an informal resolution by discussing the matter with the relevant tutor, assessor, or administrator within 10 working days of the decision.


4.2 Stage 2: Formal Appeal Submission

If the issue is not resolved informally, the appellant may submit a formal appeal in writing to The REH Academy within 15 working days of the original decision. The appeal must include:


The appellant’s name and contact details


Details of the decision being appealed


The grounds for the appeal


Any supporting evidence


4.3 Stage 3: Appeal Review

The REH Academy will acknowledge receipt of the appeal within 5 working days. A designated Appeals Panel will review the case within 20 working days. The panel may request further evidence or clarification from relevant parties.


4.4 Stage 4: Appeal Outcome

The outcome of the appeal will be communicated in writing within 5 working days following the panel’s decision. The possible outcomes are:


The appeal is upheld, and corrective action is taken.


The appeal is not upheld, with a clear explanation provided.


4.5 Stage 5: Final Review

If the appellant remains dissatisfied with the outcome, they may request a final review by an independent reviewer within 10 working days. The final decision will be communicated within 15 working days.


5. Confidentiality & Record Keeping

All appeals will be handled with confidentiality and in accordance with The REH Academy’s data protection policies. Records of appeals will be maintained for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
